A GeM workshop for MSME was held on FRIDAY, 5th April, 2019 at WASME House, Sector 16A Film City, Noida, organise by World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) in association with Laghu Udyog Bharti (LUB), Gautam Budh Nagar, U.P. The chief Guest of the event wasMr. Vijay Kumar, Director, MSME DIC, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India.
Programme started with lamp lightening session followed by Gayatri Mantra. Dr Sanjiv Layek Executive Secretary, WASME gave inaugural speech and welcomed distinguished guests and participants.

The Objectives of the workshop wasto enhance transparency, efficiency and speed in public procurement. And provides the tools of e-bidding, reverse e-auction and demand aggregation to facilitate the government users, achieve the best value for their money.
Mr. Anurag Awasthi from GeM introduced the concept to MSMEs and talked that GeM is a short form of one stop Government e-Market Place hosted by DGS&D where common user goods and services can be procured. GeM is dynamic, self-sustaining and user friendly portal for making procurement by Government officers.Public procurement forms a very important part of Government activity and reform in Public Procurement is one of the top priorities of the present Government. He also added The purchases through GeM by Government users have been authorized and made mandatory by Ministry of Finance by adding a new Rule No. 149 in the General Financial Rules, 2017.
Ms Geetu Bansal carried out a workshop and provided direction to all participants with online registration and documentation.
Around 60 MSMEs participated in the event and provided valuable feedback.
